PS3 WipEout screenshots invade France!

Jeux-France, that is. Hotter than fire on the heels of Hades, screenshots for the upcoming WipEout game for the PS3 (and another PSP title) have emerged on the interweb (which is a series of tubes and not like a dump truck). See, we just learned there was going to be a new console-oriented WipEout title and already there are fairly polished screenshots being tossed out. How long has this game been in the works? We have to wonder if the Sony machine was actually able to keep a lid on this game, letting the rumors from month's back fade away into the black.

There may only be a few images (and we're fairly sure the one on the left is for the upcoming PSP WipEout title), but it's enough to turn the rumors into fact, maybe factoid. It's probably the closest thing we'll get to a next-gen F-Zero title and that's just peachy. We'll keep our eyes open for more on this game.

1. The one on the left is the PSP game? I truly hope all three images are from the PSP game.

Even if the PS3 game is months ahead from being complete, it should never look worse than Wipeout Fusion. And it does.
The geometry and the textures look way too last gen for a PS3 game.

My word? We'll get a PS3 Wipeout eventually, it'll just look way better than any of those images.

2. Iv gotta agree with 1. these shots look kinda crappy... Still waiting to justify £450 (Don't bother trying to convince me, I want to see some games for this thing)

3. they must be psp shots no way are they ps3 screenshots..?

4. Not only this screenshots are from PSP - they're from Wipeuot PURE released ages ago on PSP. Screens were added just as a company to info about new Wipe in the making. Just read the subtitle below the images on the French site.

5. I think those are all PSP screens. While I don't expect miracles here, I think it's fair to assume the PS3 version would look much much better.

6. Good news, these are PSP screens. Most definate, upon looking at them, its first of all easy to tell immidiately, and secondly after using and translating the page to english text, the text says nothing about these being PS3 screens, but its obvios to tell anyways, zoom inn on the far right one. You can see the jagged walls, lmao, I'm sorry, but the worst PS3 game looks better then this :)

Really looking forward to the Wipeout sequel. I just wish it was more like NFS or GT, where you could edit your ship, add your own designs and buy extra stuff for it. That would be awesome.

7. Nice job, PS3Fanboy. These are early PSP screens. First the SplitFish story was posted after it was debunked, and now this.

8. PS3 fanboy, it say's "Wipeout pure" at the bottom of the screen shots. I'm foward to this title once it drops for the P3 and PSP. I fiend the living daylights out the PSone DEMO that came bundle in with the system(The greatest DEMO disc ever!)

9. Hmm. Oops. Honest mistake? I saw PS3 and screens and got excited. And in my defense, the screen on the left and the other two look incredibly different to me. My bad.

You can tell I'm a WipEout virgin.

10. These are most likely homemade considering that even if your a Nintendo Fanboy or Microsoft Fanboy you would still expect more from the PS3... my guess is.. if these are real that is... that these are just a way for you to look at it and catch on that they are making it... it just wont be out until 2009
