IGN chose to name their character Ryuutoushi ("Dragon Champion"), which is appropriate because the character uses the Dragon Champion's art of fighting... by Dragon Champion, we are of course referring to the legendary Bruce Lee. Jeet Kune Do, an almost artistic fighting style utilizing defense as offense (kinda sorta), is the fighting style Ryuutoushi will use against you (and the very concept of defense as offense in a fighting game will make it very difficult). IGN also uses many of Bruce Lee's philosophies on fighting as intros and taunts. Good stuff. We'll fight him.

Last summer Sega held a Virtua Fighter 5 tournament for the press. The list above are all the participants and their standings. Each one of them also got to customize their own character that you can fight in quest mode but not play as :/

Did somebody make Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue? I'd buy the game for that alone.

Wouldn't giving him a Chinese name be more appropriate?
JKD isn't really a fighting style or at least not in what Bruce Lee intended it to be, it was supposed to be more of a way for a person to enhance himself in the ways of martial arts...

jeet kune do is more about power and fluidity. your either thinking of tai chi or aikido. Seagal is a master of aikido. check him out.

You people should UPDATE your post with the following info:
The games quest mode is full of special characters, not just those offered to the magazines. Ryo Hazuki is in there, as well as that character from Virtua Fighter 3 that never returned, plus friends of AM2 such as Yuji Naka and random staff members. I played as Ethan from Phantasy Star Universe (who has a cool double ended blade thing) and I was against some girl with red hair from the Virtua Cop series.
This was only a few weekend ago when it was on show here in London... lots of other press people were there by most were playing the normal mode and didn't bother going back to the menu... I only did because I wanted to see the title sequence. Still, I left some other guy playing it after me so more people must be able to confirm this.
