Confirmed: PS3 motion-sensing controller will work with FFXIII

In an interview with Shinji Hashimoto, Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura about the Final Fantasy XIII project, EGM's Executive Editor Shane Bettenhausen attempts to pry loose rich, succulent information on what is possibly the most desired PS3 title of 2007. Arguments involving the superiority of gears comprised of mainly metal aside, the interview focuses on the background and universe that will encompass Final Fantasy XIII, along with the decisions to go with a tough female lead character. Most interesting in this interview, however, is the confirmation that the PS3's new controller features will be implemented into the final game.

EGM: Will the FFXIII PS3 games use the PS3's motion-sensing controller functionality?
TN: Yeah, we already have some ideas about how to use it.

1. Yeah!! I get to tilt my controller to help me walk!! Helps me so much.

(Thanks to David Hinkle PS3 fanboy has met the quota of one post per week on a game that wont be out for 1yr+. Obviously that and MGS are the only two games for the system. Please give me reason to buy in 2006/early 2007)

2. in a turn based battle system what the hell is motion sensing gonna be used for?

3. @Rik
"Motion control is a gimmick. Why would anyone want it ruining a good game"

Apparently you lived under a rock during E3 or perhaps has selective amnesia about every single thing coming out of nintendo for the past 2 months. Motion control can add to many games, and being that this FF will be more action oriented than past titles, it might add to this one.

Of course I am the minority, because its impossible to say anything remotely positive about anything related to sony nowadays.

4. Do people still care about Final Fantasy? I've been waiting forever for twelve to come out but now it's just pointless. I'll spend my money paying a bill or something. The series is getting weak.

5. i believe he mentioned something about vehicles in a previus interview.
dontcha member? ps3 fanboy covered it... i think... gota go check wheather you did now......
personally iv gota finish all the games on ps2 before i can catch up and get around to ps3. by the time i finish all the games i missed on ps1 ffxiii will probably be out and waiting for me.

cage: fatalinertia, genji2, heavenly sword, warhawk, killzone, tekkin 6, that other game, ect

xbox360 fanboy, talks about every scrap of information about halo3 too if ya havent noticed. just that information comes in less numeros, larger chunks when microsoft dictates to allow it. sony cant control when and how info on ffxiii and mgs is realised.

6. Did he really include Killzone? Ha...what a joke. Uh...you expect me to pay $600 for that line-up?

"personally iv gota finish all the games on ps2 before i can catch up and get around to ps3. by the time i finish all the games i missed on ps1 ffxiii will probably be out and waiting for me."

Dont know why Im responding because it honestly looks like youre 12. So this is the new excuse? I doubt that people who cant wait but to get their hands on a PS3 are "waiting to finish all games on the PS2". Stop posting...your flame is dying out.

"i believe he mentioned something about vehicles in a previus interview"

Again...dont know why Im responding when you dont know how to spell. You say vehicles as if you will be able to attack from them...or pick up your teammate who has a flag. THIS IS AN RPG! Any control for a vehicle is simply a gimmick.

Your flame is almost out. Its just so weak...

7. Cage, you need to chill out. You seem to care a lot about spelling for someone who uses bad grammar. There is not a single apostrophe in any of your contractions. Before you counter by saying "It's the internet. I don't have to use proper grammar", think about the daft arguments you're making towards Matjet.

Second, if you do not want to get a PS3 or do not like the direction in which Sony is taking the console, then why do you waste your time here? Why should you care? Go do something better with your time!

Posted at 7:52PM on Jun 13th 2006 by funkbass23

8. First off the conversation did not include "funkbass23". If the poster cannot carry on a debate then he/she should not post.

"You seem to care a lot about spelling for someone who uses bad grammar"

That sentence makes no sense. If you are trying to pick something to "clown" on please use something different. If I care a lot about spelling then I should spell well. You can understand someones post without punctuation. Its hard to understand illiterate posts though.

"Second, if you do not want to get a PS3 or do not like the direction in which Sony is taking the console, then why do you waste your time here?"

Find me something more fun/interesting to do while at work that wouldnt be censored/blocked...

9. Caring about proper spelling is very similar to proper grammar. I would think that if you care about one then you would care about the other. I hope that you do not use bad grammar at work. Believe me, your bosses DO notice.

I am not trying to "clown" on anyone. I feel that you must have something to prove to people online. I am not here to prove anything (about myself) but rather make a point about your indiscretions of grammar when you clearly care about spelling. They are not the same thing, but they are both clearly in the same ball park. One who cares about one obviously would care about the other (For the record, you should concern yourself with both).

As for what to do at work, maybe you could work? It seems like you are struggling to have something to do there. If you don't have something, then maybe your boss needs to delegate more work and crack the whip a little. If you must be a complete waste of their money, then maybe you should join/read boards of products you like. Otherwise, you just have something to prove or you need to let out some of your pent up angst.

For the record, it's a public board and the comments section are free game for anyone to jump in and speak. It's not as if I'm breaking into your private AIM conversation.

10. Rambling...rambling...rambling. At least I was on topic with my posts. While "funkbass23" needs to point out peoples reasons for posting on a particular site. Nowhere on the site does it say, "If you dont like Sony then stay out!". Please...post if you have something to debate with. Otherwise keep studying for your English major.

Posted at 8:54PM on Jun 13th 2006 by Cage

11. So my posting about your grammar was somehow different from your posting about his spelling? Where does it say that the content of the post must be on topic? There is clearly no rule against posting about another's post.

Second, If you want to spend your time here and insult people, be my guest. In fact, I hope that you find what you're looking for in doing so.

Finally, I am an Economics/Political Science double major, not an English Major if you must know. However, whether you are currently in college or not (or if you ever attended) you should still use proper grammar and spelling. Doing so is a fundamental element of communication, not something restricted to English majors in college.

To post something on topic, I feel that most of the Final Fantasy games that have been released have been high quality games. If there's motion sensing technology added to what seems to be a great upcoming game, then it's just gravy.

12. I said good day.

Posted at 9:09PM on Jun 13th 2006 by funkbass23

13. So with something you think is a gimmick, this game will somehow lose some of it's apparent value or quality?

Posted at 9:24PM on Jun 13th 2006 by funkbass23

14. "Please...post if you have something to debate with." Following your own wisdom, are we?

Posted at 9:31PM on Jun 13th 2006 by funkbass23

15. "So with something you think is a gimmick, this game will somehow lose some of it's apparent value or quality?"

Yes. Motion-sensing for rumble? (Rumble synchronized with the environment would be a better experience.)

The rest of your posts are ...................

Apparently, you forget that the PS3 motion sensing can't do half of what the Wii can.
