The news regarding the long-awaited launch details of the PlayStation 3 is sweeping the community. We've finally got the facts that we've been craving for all this time. Like a malnourished puppy, press attendees engulfed the Sony keynote and took away everything they had to say.
Here's the rundown: The PS3 is slated to hit Japan on November 11th, then making its way to the States six days later for the ripe price of $500 and $600. We hope you've been scrimping and saving. It comes in two flavors: the 20GB and the 60GB.
By the end of March next year, Sony plans on having shipped six million units around the world. But with two million consoles readied to supply three major territories at launch, we can bet on a shortage to some degree. Were you satisfied with the information that came out of the Sony keynote?

Please please please please please please PLEASE! let thie be sony's last console. All they've ever done for the industry is buy up a bunch of developers so that they could force fans of certain series to pay ridiculous prices for junky, unreliable consoles when we could be getting the games on other systems. I'll admit that the PS1 brought gaming to the mainstream and did something for the industry, but these prices, promises and games are proof that as an industry we've outgrown Sony. Please go away, I promise nobody will miss you.

I watched the event live, and it I don't think i was that good. But I did really enjoy Heavenly Sword-I think that game could kick some serious ass. Wasn't impressed with resistance:Fall of man though.
Was I satisfied?
Requires two answers:Yes and no
Yes becuase the price was rite around what I thought it would be. I wasn't suprised about the controller Daul Shock 3 redisgn. Even though it was a blantant rip off of Nintendo's revmote. But because they put that "6 dagrees of motion" into the controller, it can no long have vibration.
"Pursuant to the introduction of this new six-axis sensing system, the vibration feature that is currently available on DUALSHOCK and DUALSHOCK 2 controllers for PlayStation and PlayStation 2, will be removed from the new PS3 controller as vibration itself interferes with information detected by the sensor,"
Also excited for the two sqaure enix tittles.
No because for Sony touting the ps3 as twice as powerful as the 360, I didn't see anything to indicate that.
There is also the fact that Sony criticized MS very heavily for having two SKU's, and now look what Sony has done...they did the same thing (albeit a little different).
I'm also not suprized that Sony took away the 500 connections in the back. The 499 version doesn't even have an HDMI output, and the 599 only has one, not two.
Same thing with the wifi...only the 599 has wifi built in.

Who are they kidding with those projected numbers of sales...these things don't look easy to manufacture...and rumors of low chip yields for the Cell processor. They will be lucky to match the 360's production rates.
Boy is the price a no brainer...
PS3 - $499
360 - $299

PS3 lets fanboys down...again. Parents are not buying a $600 console for their teenagers. At to the fact that MS is dropping their price and that there is no HDMI on the $499 version. Better hope the hype does something for their sales...
Oh...and the PS3 is double the power of the 360. HA!! Sony is a joke.

Guys, sorry to burst the bubble. No matter what the reason Sony gives for not having shock in the controller because it wont work with the new control "6 axis". It just isnt true. They were sued along with Microsoft over using that technoloy from someone else without permission. Microsoft settle the law suit. Sony as they always do, do not settle lawsuits. So they fought it in court. They lost of course, couldnt buy thier way out of this one. They will never be allowed to us that in a controller agian. that is the true reason you see the design change. "interfers" hardly. MORON Sony Rep
