Lair off-screen trailer looked good at GDC
Stills and screenshots can only do so much to convey how good a game looks. Here's an off-screen video presentation of Lair recorded from GDC, showing off the Factor 5 game in action (or, should we say, motion).
You might recognize some of the animation from videos seen elsewhere, but it was nice to catch the newer footage of a dragon wireframe model meticulously rendered with layers of musculature and skin, too.
If that's not enough for ya, you can always just listen in to the audio, which features a young lady from Washington asking questions of a developer with the hope of getting hired. Consider this a lesson in networking.

Has anyone else noticed how strange it is that all these videos are being displayed on Samsung screens?
Perhapse SCEJ couldn't spring for the Bravias ;).

I wonder why won't Xbox 360 fanboy post this too as a "Phony Screenshot". Way to selectively post what they like and what they don't when they put up the "Motorstorm" demo. Total dipshits, if you ask me.
This absolutely looks better than anything shown for the 360 (including gears of war), and looks almost on par with MGS4 graphics. The Killzone level has yet to be demonstrated (but hey, if MGS4 was realtime on PS3 initial dev kits, would it be too far on an actual PS3?), but I'll be skeptic just to not be disappointed.

Ooooooh...this screenshot is so much better than the 360. I mean...looking from your non-HD computer monitor you can really tell the difference. Dont you need a console out before you can get games? I mean shouldnt Xbox 720 be out before the PS3? Gentlemen...this is a hype machine. Dont count your chickens before they hatch. Free online...Blu-Ray...waaaaaay more memory than the 360...soooo much better graphics...and the next thing to come out...drum roll...the console is FREE!! Yeah thats right...Sony has announced the console is FREE to all fanboys who believe the hype.

Hey Cage, you ruin your credibility with all that sarcasm. Too much, my friend.
The video looks great though. I think the up-close shots didn't look spectacular, but the pulled back shots of the dragons flying around and battling mid-air were excellent. I'm really excited to see what this system can pull off technically.
I am a Nintendo fan, but the PS3 definitely catches my eye.
I have to admit that I am afraid of pricing...

All this game says to me is Super Smash Bros. Dragon style. (sorry, but I love Nintendo also)

I still don't get it. What is so special about this? The exciting portions of the video were cutscene material. The portion that could have been under player control looked pretty boring - many dragons all flapping their wings in unison. It gives the illusion that things are happening around you, but they really aren't. The cutscenes look interesting, the gameplay portions look shite.
And shiny dragons? Shiny everything? The game must take place in the future, 'cause, as the folks at redvsblue well know, in the future everything is shinier.

Oncnawan-
I think if you look closely enough, you can easily tell that in this particular demo, it is raining/storming. When rain falls things get wet, when a light source shines onto something wet, it generally shines (depending on texture), hence the shiney dragons.
Now if you'll look closely at this screenshot:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/ps3/118932390/in/pool-allofps3/ Which was recently released as a gameplay screen, (which the HUD makes clear that it probably is) you can see that it is not raining, the sky seems clear...and the dragon skin is not wet and shiney but dry and giving more of a flat color.

Eric;
Thanks for the response. If we blend your explanation with (I believe it was) Griff's theory, it is always raining in the future.
Seriously, though, thanks for pointing that out.
